I Wonderland

For me, dreams represent the world in-between, where anything is possible. For as long as I can remember, I have had mysterious dreams occurring in the strangest places, sometimes with creatures that do not actually exist. I consult to my dreams when the intense, sad, rebellious weight of the real world gets heavy on my shoulders. Then I would be able to see the big picture and have hope that there could be a better future. The cycle of time manifests itself in the subtle existence of dreams more accurately than everyday life. The affects and the awareness I experience in that intermediate space binds me to life more than anything else. I build my forcefield regarding my dreams. They are an important source of wisdom for me to protect myself from inner and outer forces. These paintings are dreamscapes: fields from my dreams. The journey of the I Wonderland series, which I named after a game I invented called dream hunting, started many years ago. The game was about finding dreamscapes. I took and collected photos of the places and sceneries that reminded me of those in my dreams. Inspired by these photographs and the narratives of my dreams for the first time in 2016, I started painting this series. I Wonderland is an ongoing series for lifetime. As long as I keep dreaming. Each year the collection grows. So far 28 of the paintings are finished. Some of those are exhibited in group shows.
